About Me

I was born in Minneapolis and grew up in West Chester, Pa., a western suburb of Philadelphia. These days, I live in Newtown Square, Pa., with my wife, Joan, and our two sons, Michael and William.

I’m a proud graduate of Penn State University with an honors degree in Management Science and Information Systems (a fancy title for “statistics and computers”), and I enjoy watching Nittany Lions football games each fall.

Outside of work, I’m serving as the treasurer for the pto at our younger son’s elementary school. I also enjoy long-distance running and have completed five 5K races over the last two years.

I’m also an amateur collector of clocks and watches, including a 1968 grandfather clock with tubular bells, an antique mantel clock, and a few vintage wall clocks. My watch collection includes a Longines gmt and a Seiko diver, and I’m a member of a local chapter of timepiece enthusiasts.

Two additional fun facts about me:

  • As an eighth grader, I competed in the 1988 National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., where I finished among the top third of 200 finalists. (My elimination word was patronymic.)

  • I also worked on the Walt Disney World College Program in 1995. My summer job as a monorail driver earned me the alliterative nickname “Monorail Mike.”
